Even if you have never played sport in your life, Simon utilises experience frome lite sport, and tailors it to you regardless of age or level of fitness.
When necessary, Simon may want to refer you for further assessment from a colleague who specialises in Sports and Exercise Medicine and / or imaging to help establish a clearer diagnosis.
With a strong working relationship with a team of expert colleagues, he will be able to guide you through what can often be a confusing journey.
Once your assessment is complete, he’ll discuss the findings and develop a clear, customised plan to help you move forward and achieve your goals.
Rehabilitation Services

Our rehabilitation services are designed to help you recover and regain strength after an injury or surgery. Simon has extensive experience working with patients following arthroscopic surgery, joint replacements, ACL-reconstructions and shoulder and ankle stabilisation surgery.
He is passionate about the role of “pre-hab” rehabilitation prior to surgery that can aid recovery following surgery and in some cases individuals avoid surgery altogether. He has a special interest in hips, knees and shoulders. Furthermore, he enjoys the challenge of complicated problems, especially sporting hip and groin injuries.
Simon is a classically trained musculoskeletal physiotherapist. He has honed his manual therapy skills through over 30 years of clinical experience. Simon focuses on restoring mobility, rebuilding strength, and preventing future issues with a hands-on approach and skilful and precise exercise training.

If your problem requires surgery and you’re unsure on how to proceed, Simon can guide you on how to best prepare for surgery by taking you through a pre-surgery programme that can facilitate better recovery after surgery.
In some cases, the prehab can become the rehab and you may be able to defer or avoid the surgery altogether.

BACK AND NECK PAIN

Simon is one of a small group of clinicians with post graduate training in both sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and he has been treating neck and back problems in private practice for over 30 years.
Starting with discussing and assessing your spinal problem, followed by analysing your movement patterns, he then uses a clinical assessment to understand your pain. Simon utilises his hands-on manual therapy skills and supplement his treatment techniques with exercises.
As you improve, core and spinal strengthening exercises are often added to improve your condition. He is keen on preventing problems returning and advises how to prevent recurrence.
The final chapter normally involves helping you get back to your favourite exercise or sport, whether it’s walking, gardening or padel; he utilises his sports physiotherapy skills to ensure that your spine is robust and well prepared for your next chapter.

Simon has extensive experience working with runners of all ages and abilities and is passionate about the long-term health benefits of running.
Whilst completing his Masters in Sports Physiotherapy he analysed the effect of running barefoot on the leg and spinal muscles. Combining his biomechanical knowledge of running and running shoes and his clinical experience.
Simon can develop tailored solutions for your running goals.
He has worked with International Elite Marathon Runners, National Level sprinters, Olympic Pentathlon, Bobsleigh and Skeleton athletes and Paralympians. Simon was the Lead Physiotherapist for The Great Run series of running events in the UK from 2009–2014, and currently is the Lead Physiotherapist with the GB Pentathlon team, based at the University of Bath.
He has assisted hundreds of runners in their preparation for running a Marathon and helped many more runners with their various running related problems.
Simon’s approach to treating running injuries involves the same pragmatic approach he takes to all injuries; to find both easy wins to get you back to running as soon as possible and strategies to effectively resolve the problem.
He then can help with guidance to protect you from repeat or further injury and uses his elite athlete experience to aim to enhance your performance.

Simon has extensive experience working with ankle sprains and knows how frustrating these injuries can be.
With experience across many sports and a season as Team Physiotherapist for Team Bath Netball, he can develop a personalised management plan to get you back on the court, pitch or track again.

Frozen shoulders (Adhesive Capsulutis) and shoulder impingements are both debilitating condition and can be challenging to remedy.
Simon has extensive experience treating frozen shoulders and shoulder impingements and ultilises a combination of manual therapy and exercise to help reduce pain and regain shoulder function.

This innovative therapy reduces inflammation, accelerates muscle recovery, and promotes tissue repair, helping you bounce back faster after workouts or injuries.

Simon enjoys playing all of the racquet sports and has treated international level tennis, squash, badminton, table tennis and even real tennis players.
He appreciates that no-one wants time away from the court and utilises his understanding of the biomechanics of racquet sport, combined with his sports physiotherapy experience to help diagnose and formulate a treatment plan to get you back to enjoying the sport you love.

Simon has extensive experience working with patients across a wide spectrum of different sports with ACL injuries from Grade I through to full rupture.
He is experienced in pre-hab rehabilitation prior to surgery, post-operative rehabilitation and has successfully rehabilitated many patients through non-operative rehabilitation.
If you are keen to avoid surgical intervention for your ACL injury, Simon can assess your case, and determine if this might be possible and explain the pros and cons of non-surgical rehabilitation with you.

Simon has a special interest in hip and groin injuries, especially sport related injuries. His clinical experience has taught him that no two hip or groin problems are the same and he takes a global view to these injuries.
He will look to identify all of the potential contributing factors and then by combing movement analysis and hip strength testing he will aim to quantify the deficits and develop a tailored management plan.
He enjoys the challenge of complex hip and groin problems and will work patiently with you to find a solution.
